The Grow Your Own Revolution PDF Print E-mail

The VegTrugWell it seems that the 'Grow Your Own' revolution is firmly gripping the world right now. Finally, following the huge increase in people keeping their own chickens for eggs, meat and just pleasure, it seems that the message is getting through to our governments that people want a say in the quality of food they eat, where it comes from and how much energy it has taken to produce.

Everywhere we look at the moment people are starting land share and allotment schemes, although the legality and ownership issues within this kind of project is a minefield to say the least, especially in France where it simply will not happen. Can it really work in a true inner city?

Myself and my UK based business partner saw this movement coming a couple of years ago and have developed a product to try to meet the demand for people wanting an easy 'package' which will enable them to grow their own vegetables even in the smallest of spaces - The VegTrug was born.

We launched the product on an unsuspecting UK trade in September 2009 at the GLEE Garden Centre Trade Show. The VegTrug won a prize and was shortlisted in the top 4 new products at the show for 2009. Since then demand has exploded and the product is now available in some 100 of the top UK garden centres. We have also signed distribution agreements in Germany, Spain, Australia and already in the USA where the product is not due to be launched until May 2010.

People buying a VegTrug can visit the website where they can access very simple instructions on how to grow their own vegetables within the VegTrug. Properly managed it will produce enough vegetables throughout the year to feed a small family.

Grow Your Own is here to stay - the VegTrug is a stylish, simple and clean product which is less labour intensive than digging over ancient vegetable plots and far easier to keep those pesky slugs away from your produce!
